Vision of the library:

  • a creative, innovative library, closely interacting with university life – integrated into learning, teaching, research; providing access to knowledge worldwide and promoting the intellectual assets of the University.

MITU Library is a modern multifunctional information intelligence center. It is not only a place to obtain information, but also a communication center where favorable conditions are created for meaningful leisure. The Scientific Library is one of the most important divisions of the university, which is a scientific and information institution, the support base of the educational, educational-methodological and scientific process for training qualified agricultural specialists.

The structure of the MITU library includes: a lending department, a reading room, an electronic room, a conference hall and a graduate students' room.

Specialized reading rooms are open: a scientific reading room, a reading room for periodicals. The main book fund in its structural ratio consists of: a total fund of 335,162 copies of educational and scientific literature, including 141,612 in the Kazakh language and additional literature of 60,067 copies under contracts with "Kazakh Research Institute of Fruit Growing and Viticulture" LLP and "Kazakh Research Institute of Processing and Food Industry" LLP. The library also has a rare books collection.

Each user is provided with high-quality and effective access to any information resources that support the educational process and scientific research of the university.

In 2016, a library of English literature and language clubs were opened – "English club", "Lovers of the Russian language", and a public speaking circle, headed by language teachers under the general coordination of the Department of Social and Humanitarian Disciplines. Since November, the fiction readers club "Zhas Okyrmandar" (Young Readers) has been operating.

All computer equipment is connected to a high-speed Internet network, averaging 150 Mbps.

Free Wi-Fi access points to Internet resources have been created for all students and teachers, alongside an electronic room with 26 computers.

In order to facilitate access to domestic and foreign library collections, agreements have been concluded:

  • with the company "Thomson Reuters" (JSC National Center for Scientific and Technical Information), a contract was signed for access to the international database of scientific publications "Elsevier" https://www.elsevier.com;
  • agreement on the use of RIEL (Republican Interuniversity Electronic Library) resources; the ability to use the electronic libraries resources of other RIEL participants https://www.rmeb.kz;
  • the program of electronic reference bibliographical catalog KABIS (Kazakh Automated Library Information System) has been commissioned, designed for complex automation of library processes and creation of electronic catalogs, as well as full-text databases.

Periodicals are an important source of information. Every year, the university library subscribes to Kazakhstani and Russian periodicals. Great attention is paid to the subscription of scientific publications created by the Academy of Sciences, and higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan and Russia. Periodicals provide significant support to the educational process, containing the most relevant and operational information on various branches of knowledge, with the largest share occupied by journals in the university's profiles.

For the convenience of MITU employees, a universal project has been launched since 2017 to create a distributed database of library collections, linking the dormitory buildings, the university, and nearby research institutes with a single IP network via a radio channel.

MITU has implemented the "Electronic Library" project, aimed at providing users with access to local and remote electronic information and the targeted creation of unique electronic information assets.
